Troubleshoot card declines

Review our checklist to see why your card isn't working.

Updated over 7 months ago

Let’s explore the reasons why debit cards are declined and how you can resolve them.

Potential reasons your card was declined

  1. You haven't activated your card.

  2. You exceeded your account balance.

  3. You reached the daily spending limit.

  4. There is a security issue. One of our top priorities is to keep your account secure, which sometimes means that we need to perform an additional security check.

  5. The merchant or provider terminal is not properly set up to accept your card.

Workaround tip

If your card is declined for an eligible expense, use another method to pay for your purchase. Submit a claim for reimbursement for the purchase with an itemized receipt.
