Eligible expenses for your general health FSA

What can you pay for with your general health FSA?

Your FSA can be used for a wide range of medical, dental, and vision expenses, for yourself, your spouse, and your dependents. See the list below for commonly eligible expenses!

Deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance

Your out-of-pocket costs for actual medical care are generally eligible, since they're payments for the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of disease.

Over-the-counter medicine is covered

Unlike some general tax-deduction rules, your FSA can reimburse over-the-counter medicine, whether or not it's prescribed, along with menstrual care products.

Letter of Medical Necessity

Some expenses that aren't automatically eligible, like gym memberships, certain supplements, or weight-loss programs, may still qualify if a doctor provides a Letter of Medical Necessity confirming the expense treats a specific diagnosed condition.
