Understand HSA gifting

Want people to give you the gift of health? Share your health savings account gifting link!

Updated over a week ago

Most people don’t realize that others can contribute to your HSA, not just you or your employer. To make it easy and accessible for your family and friends to contribute to your HSA (a gift that truly means something!), we created a way for you to share a link with others and receive contributions safely.

How HSA gifting works

Money deposited using your gifting link is considered a contribution and counts towards your total annual contribution limit. Contributions given by others to you are not tax deductible, but you are not taxed on the contributions. (You enjoy the tax-free benefits of HSA contributions.)

HSA gifting limit

To help avoid gifts exceeding your annual contribution limit, we've limited transactions to $1,000. If your annual contribution limit is exceeded, you will need to correct the excess contribution to avoid any penalties.

How to get your HSA gifting link

Let folks know you’re accepting outside contributions to your HSA and easily track them all from your dashboard. Here's how.

To get the link:

  1. Select Health Savings Account.

  2. Scroll to the bottom and select Copy Gift Link.

When you'll see HSA gift contributions in your account

You should see an HSA Gifting contribution in your account within one business day.
